CT CAN End Homelessness
CT CAN END HOMELESSNESS
In 2022, the Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness assumed leadership of the CT CAN End Homelessness statewide initiative. We implement the collective impact approach to solving homelessness alongside our partners at the individual, community, and state level.
Moving to a collective impact approach requires a system-wide change, beginning with reimagining the current top-down structure for decision-making. Our mission is to ensure participation by direct services staff, to center the perspectives of people with lived experience, and to highlight the diversity of our field.
Based on feedback from the CT CAN End Homelessness Evaluation Survey, we are restructuring CT CAN End Homelessness to improve:
- Communication Flow
- Committee Makeup and Purpose
- Clear Goals and Objectives
- Inclusivity
Statement of Commitment to Racial Equity and Inclusion
CCEH recognizes that there remain inequities and discrimination in housing, and that they extend to our homeless response system. We are committed to eradicating inequities and discrimination and replacing it with a more equitable and inclusive homeless response system. However, we cannot create equity solely by ending an inequitable system. Social change can come only if we incorporate racial equity and inclusion at the very core of our work. Therefore, CCEH is committed to centering racial equity and inclusion in CT CAN End Homelessness.
Our goals are:
- Recognize and address the inequities in our homeless response system;
- Strengthen the voices of the people from our most vulnerable communities;
- Demonstrate that race equity strategies can be used effectively by all agencies, organizations, and providers within these communities.
CT CAN End Homelessness will uphold the equitable treatment and safety of those experiencing homelessness. We will identify racial disparities that exist in our programs, address these disparities, and retool our system to eliminate these disparities.
Civic Roundtable is a collaboration platform to increase communication and engagement within CT CAN End Homelessness. It contains committee agendas, meeting minutes, resources, and discussions. If you would like to learn more about the work of CT CAN End Homelessness’s committees, please join us.
