‘Ready to Roommate’ Training Feb. 26

David McCarthy of Columbus House will be bringing his “Ready to Roommate” model for facilitating shared housing to providers across the state through a one-day training at South Church, 277 Main St., Hartford. The session will be in the Stanley Room, from 8 a.m., to 4:30 p.m.

Ready to Roommate is a comprehensive shared housing model that creates truly affordable living opportunities. This model yields more than just housing; its an avenue toward independence for clients from all walks of life.

The purpose of this training is to provide operational knowledge and best practices of shared living to those working with the people experiencing homelessness. Attendees will learn how to develop and operate a Ready to Roommate style program. Topics to be covered in the training include: roommate and landlord outreach, negotiating with landlords, empowering your clients, breaking down barriers to housing, managing turnover, landlord-tenant disputes, and Q&A with a landlord involved in the program.
Cost is $20 for members, $35 for non members.

Lunch is included.
