Diversion Training for UniteCT Resource Centers

April 21, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Please join the Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness on Thursday, April 21st 9am-11am for a Diversion Training. Shelter Diversion is a strategy that prevents homelessness at the front door by helping people identify immediate alternative housing arrangements to shelter and, if necessary, connecting them with services and financial assistance to help them return to permanent housing. Diversion can reduce the number of households becoming homeless, the demand for shelter beds, and the size of program wait lists. This training will thoroughly discuss the practice of shelter diversion; including how to have a diversion (problem solving) conversation, identifying natural supports, staying housing focused while setting realistic expectations, linkage to services and community resources, and special considerations to have during the COVID-19 crisis.

*This training will be very interactive, please be prepared to be in a quiet location that allows for you to have your camera on so you can fully engage in the training.

If you work at a UniteCT resource center and would like to join, email Amber Freeman at afreeman@cceh.org
