Advanced Motivational Interviewing
June 1 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Join the Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness and international author, Raymond Chip Tafrate, PhD, for fast-paced, virtual, interactive learning sessions that will focus on cutting-edge applications of Motivational Interviewing (MI). Participants will increase their overall MI proficiency by participating in advanced exercises targeting the core skills of reflecting and summarizing. Following a review of client change language (e.g., preparatory change talk, mobilizing change talk, and sustain-talk), participants will fine-tune their ability to recognize, reinforce, and respond to key client verbalizations to set the stage for developing an effective case plan. This workshop is highly interactive, incorporating structured learning activities including case examples, audio/video-recorded work samples, small group exercises, and “real”-plays. Class sizes are limited to allow for practice opportunities in a virtual learning environment.
* A beginner’s MI course is a prerequisite for taking this workshop
