Black History Month Spotlight of the Week:
Deborah DeJarnette of The Connection

A special thanks to Lee Anne Borkowski for nominating Deborah in recognition for her leadership and service to Connecticut’s homeless response system and the people it serves.

Deborah DeJarnette joined The Connection in 2006. She started out as a Case Manager and then swiftly moved into the role of Program Director. Since then, her role has expanded to include supervision of three permanent supportive housing programs in New Haven: The West Village, Ondusky, and Ross Centers for Supportive Housing. Deborah is a valued member of The Connection’s Employee Appreciation Committee and is a strong participant of our Race, Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice Committee.

Throughout COVID-19, Deborah has remained steadfast in her commitment to serving the homeless population. She is leading her staff team through the pandemic to ensure that clients have access to supportive services. She is well respected by both colleagues and clients of The Connection as well as the New Haven community. Her constant optimism, positive outlook and approachable personality shines through in everything she does. For these reasons, it is my honor nominate her for this recognition and highlight the outstanding work she does to help improve the lives of the people we serve.
