Training & Technical Assistance

Learn about Upcoming Training & Events

CCEH provides training and technical assistance to emergency shelters, rapid rehousing programs, transitional housing programs and other service providers. Training and technical assistance activities are aimed at providing support to the field that will enable providers to utilize new tools, learn about best practices from across the country, and adjust to upcoming changes in systems and requirements, like HMIS and HUD.

Training is available through training series and conferences throughout the state and by individual request for their agency, both in person and by phone. CCEH offers a variety of trainings every year, at a free to low cost for members as well as non-members.

CCEH has recently offered trainings in:

  • “Best Practices of Emergency Shelters & Crisis Services” in collaboration with the National Alliance to End Homelessness. This training focused on educating service providers on new best practices from across the country to improve their programs and re-orient their programs toward Housing First and Rapid Re-Housing.
  • “Administering the VI-SPDAT 2.0” to bring homeless service providers up to speed on changes in the survey and prioritization tool for the statewide information system.
  • “Safe Shelter & Fair Housing for Transgender Individuals” in collaboration with HUD Connecticut, CT Fair Housing, CT TransAdvocacy, & AIDS-CT. This training discussed the changing HUD guidelines around LGBTQ individuals, gender identity and expression, and best practices for serving LGBTQ Individuals.

Shelters, rapid rehousing providers, transitional housing providers and other homeless services throughout CT may request individualized training and technical assistance through CCEH. Individualized training and TA may include staff training on specific topic areas, assistance with program improvements or provision of best practice services or simply answering questions and providing support. Assistance is available by phone, webinar or in person. To request assistance, please contact Mary Ann Haley, Deputy Director, or 860-721-7876, ext. 113
