2015 Annual Training Institute, May 14, 2015

“Solving the Puzzle: Uniting Local, State, and National Efforts to End Homelessness,” the 2015 Annual Training Institute (ATI), Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, CT.

The 2015 CCEH Annual Training Institute gathered together 400 homeless service providers, educators, state and federal colleagues, and other partners working to prevent and end homelessness. Participants gathered to engage in cutting-edge workshops and panel discussions led by prominent national, regional, and local leaders.

Iain DeJong, co-creator of the VI-SPDAT, presented the keynote for the 2015 ATI, and hosted several iain_dejongsessions on the VI-SPDAT tool, and introduced the new VI-SPDAT/TAY (Transition Age Youth) assessment tool. He shared in his keynote address and ATI training sessions his wealth of experience and insights into how providers can coordinate efforts to end all instances of homeless across communities, and challenged Connecticut to think even more creatively in efforts to end homelessness.

Workshop Tracks to Respond to the Challenges of 2015 and Beyond

The 2015 ATI workshops focused on helping attendees think critically about collaborative solutions to on-the-ground and policy-level challenges in their communities and across the state. As we continue to develop Coordinated Access in our provider networks across the state, we have ambitious goals to meet: ending Veteran homelessness by 2015 and chronic homelessness by 2016. At the same time, we want to set a path to ending all forms of homelessness by expediting the exit from homelessness to housing for all populations.

The 2015 ATI included workshop tracks that offered diverse areas of learning for practitioners, community leaders, funders, developers, and people currently or formerly experiencing homelessness. Attendees received invaluable information and training on topics including Rapid Re-housing, coordinated exit, and the VI-SPDAT. The 2015 ATI also featured a special conference within a conference focusing on the unique needs of Connecticut’s homeless children and youth.

Please find, below, the presentations and hand-outs provided in each of the workshop sessions. We are grateful to the presenters for sharing their work, tools, and wisdom!
