Federal Action Alert:
Call & Email our Congressional Delegation Today!

April 5, 2017

Your voice, in this time of budget constraints and concerns, is needed more than ever.

Last spring, the House Appropriations Committee voted to provide $2.487 billion for McKinney in FY 2017, a $237 million increase. This would allow communities to house 40,000 more homeless people than this year. Congress may vote on final FY 2017 bills before April 28 ends.

This is an opportunity for a significant increase in resources we need to end homelessness!

Members of the House and the Senate are circulating “Dear Colleague” sign-on letters in support of HUD. These letters request $2.6 billion for HUD’s McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Grants in fiscal year FY 2018. The letter sponsors plan to send them to the leaders of the HUD Appropriations Subcommittee.

Please join the Connecticut Coalition to End Homelessness in contacting your members of Congress to ask that they sign onto these letters, or to thank them if they have already done so! Click here to read the McKinney-Vento sign on letters for the Senate and the House.

  • Ask Representative John Larson (CT D-1), Representative Jim Himes (CT D-4), and Representative Rosa DeLauro (CT D-3) to sign-on today.

  • Thank Senator Chris Murphy, Senator Richard Blumenthal, Representative Elizabeth Esty (CT D-5), and Representative Joe Courtney (CT D-2) for signing on to the letter.

Thanks for your continued advocacy and commitment to ending homelessness in Connecticut.
