STRIVE Family Mediation Training: Train-the-Trainer

April 25, 2018 - April 27, 2018

New Training Workshop!
STRIVE Family Mediation Training
(Support To Reunite, Involve, and Value Each Other)

The CT Coalition to End Homelessness is partnering with UCLA to bring this innovative approach to prevent and help end youth homelessness through the use of the STRIVE mediation model. We are excited to offer a new three-day training workshop for providers currently train in STRIVE. Providers will be trained by the Director of Training at UCLA’s Nathanson Family Resistance Center, Dr. Susanna Lopez, and her team, and become Connecticut’s very first STRIVE trainers. They will have the opportunity to practice their skills on days 2 & 3 where they will train providers new to the STRIVE model.

April 25-27, 2018
10:00 am-4:00 pm
Hamden, CT
*The Train-the-Trainer training is only open to those currently practicing the STRIVE model*

Project Strive is a family-centered psycho-educational mediation model designed to reduce youth homelessness and increase family stability. Initially developed at UCLA in 2004, this five-session intervention targets newly homeless youth and their families and has been found to increase positive family interactions while providing family members with tools to address conflict more effectively. This program also has proven results in reducing youth risk-taking behaviors and improving participant’s general wellness.
